Agresso QL Students Product Information

Agresso QL Students Overview

The combination of a robust, core system with powerful presentation and flexible data capture technologies is allowing Agresso to deliver practical e-business solutions across the tertiary education sector.

Detailed Application Information

Additional Learning Support

The Additional Learning Support (ALS) module has been designed to assist colleges with the recording, tracking, analysis and reporting of additional learning support. It forms part of a suite of software designed to manage Student Support including Educational Maintenance Allowance, Student Loan Company and Financial Aid.

Admissions

Agresso QL Students utilises a single learner record and makes maximum use of already recorded information at any of the stages to eliminate duplication and wasted effort. Each stage can be accomplished with a minimum of information to enable rapid processing, with full details being added later

Automated Attendance

Agresso has joined forces with automated data capture specialists DRS (Data & Research Services plc) to provide colleges with a solution for automated attendance marking.

Centre for Admissions Management

CAM provides institutions with the facility to rapidly and accurately deal with student enquiries, applications and enrolments. It is based upon, but not restricted to, a Telesales/Call Centre environment. It is very flexible and can be tailored to the requirements of any institution, different groups of users and individuals.

Timetable Scheduling

The Agresso QL Students Register module is where the planned college timetable is held and where attendance data representing the actual delivery of classes is entered and stored.  To this extent most timetable processes are dealt with by functionality provided within the Register module.

Curriculum

The Curriculum module is the foundation upon which the whole student record is built. This module has been designed with both the scope and flexibility to model your full course offering and thus supports the delivery of the curriculum of the 21st century including modularisation, credit based delivery/assessment and eLearning.

Curriculum Planning Module (England)

Agresso has developed an integrated module to assist with the complex process of curriculum planning. This module enables colleges to generate a detailed and summary income and expenditure model for the curriculum, together with enrolment, retention and achievement targets and associated learner profiles. The module supports both standard FE formula funding and other user-definable funding streams (e.g. HE, ACL).

Data Translation Centre Import

Agresso provides an alternative method of importing data into the main Student Administration system

The Data Translation Centre (DTC) is a powerful enabling tool for interoperability between Agresso QL Students and other college systems. It has been designed to import data from any third party source whilst maintaining the integrity of the Agresso QL Students database.

Data Translation Centre Export

Agresso provides an alternative method of transferring data out of the main Student Administration system.

The Data Translation Centre (DTC) is a powerful enabling tool for interoperability between Agresso QL Students and other college systems. It has been designed to allow the export of data into any third party system without specialist knowledge of the Agresso QL Students database.

EDI

As part of this process, Agresso QL Students has been enhanced to fully support all current EDI transfer methods including FEERDUM (Format for the Exchange of Examination Related Data), Edexcel Vocational Awards and City and Guilds (CGLI).

All processes are controlled through wizards and include Base Data import, entry submissions and import of results.

EDI - City and Guilds

As part of this process, Agresso QL Students has been enhanced to conform to all current EDI transfer methods including City and Guilds (CGLI), Edexcel and FEERDUM (Format for the Exchange of Examination Related Data.

Education Maintenance Allowance

The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) Module has been designed to assist colleges with the recording, analysis and reporting requirements associated with the EMA initiative. It forms part of a suite of software designed to manage Student Support including Additional Learning Support, Student Loan Company and Financial Aid. This module includes automated processes for aggregating and analysing attendance data collected within the Agresso QL Students Registers module.

European Social Funding

The European Social Funding (ESF) Module has been developed by Agresso to assist Further Education to overcome the complexity in managing and tracking European Social Funding in a web-based format. ESF is not only simple to use but also provides the means to record and manipulate vital information for auditing purposes.

Examination Seating Module

The Examination Seating Module (ESM) provides a facility to manage the complex and time consuming tasks associated with the organisation of examinations. This Agresso QL Students module is an essential labour saving tool for Examination Officers which automates the process of resolving clashes, organising seating for candidates and the production of reports such as seating plans and candidate timetables.

Examinations and Achievements

Performances relating to internal and external examinations as well as assignments which contribute to the student’s final qualifications can be recorded in this module. Where awarding body specifications exist, full EDI functionality is available to assist with data processing and to reduce manual input.

Fees and Charges

This module allows the creation of fees against courses and provides the mechanism for building the fees appropriate for individual learners together with the financial analysis of such income. With the addition of certain of the Agresso QL Finance modules, additional functionality can be added including taking payments, the automatic creation of debtor accounts and the analysis of income across defined General Ledger accounts.

Financial Aid

The financial aid module caters for any type of funds the student may receive, for example hardship, bursary etc. The ability for the institution to define the fund types means the system is flexible to suit any institutions needs.

Information Centre

This module provides a series of enquiry screens and standard reports by which information held within the system can be reported according to user-specified criteria. Further reporting can be undertaken through integration to third party packages such as Microsoft Office.

Placement Management

Agresso QL Students offers a complete placements management module to aid institutions with the recording and tracking of students on any form of placements. It has been designed with a generic format to facilitate all types of placement, such as Work based Learning, Work Experience, Teaching, Industrial and Year Out placements

Portal Technology

Portal Server extends the capabilities of desktop tools and web software solutions by offering users a powerful way to organize, find, and share information in a secure environment. With this in mind Agresso has devised a College portal using Microsoft Share point Portal server with Digital Dashboard Technology. Share Point Portal Server integrates a flexible Web portal based on Microsoft Digital Dashboard technology, content indexing and search, document management, and a collaborative applications platform. It brings together a single solution for all of the college applications.

Agresso QL-e

Agresso QL-e has been designed as an intranet application, utilising the latest browser technology. This allows the application to be distributed to a wide variety of management, teaching and support staff throughout the institution.

Registers and Attendance

In recent years, attendance tracking has become a major agenda for all colleges, both for internal purposes and through the emphasis placed on this data by OFSTED, ESTYN and other inspection bodies. This module provides the tools for the collection, processing, tracking and reporting of attendance. Through this data, colleges can better monitor for signs of early withdrawal, generate timetables and analyse room and staff utilisation.

Resource Management

In addition to managing students, colleges need to control the resources they employ in the delivery of learning. A hierarchical structure allows for the creation of departments, rooms, discipline groups, equipment and staff, linked together as appropriate. Physical resources and cost information can be recorded on rooms and the staff data is comprehensive enough to produce the Staff Individualised Record (SIR).

Statistical Returns

Agresso QL Students provides the means to capture and use information to assist in the overall management of the college. Whilst this is the primary objective of the system, it cannot be overlooked that the onerous task of compiling and submitting statistical returns still has to be accomplished. Whether this is the ILR or SIR, this module provides the scope and power to extract the necessary information from the student database to fulfil this vital function.

Student Loan Company

The Agresso QL Students Student Loan Company (SLC) module is designed to enable institutions to import data transmitted from the SLC. The imported files hold information relating to the contribution made to the tuition fees of the student. The file received from the SLC is imported into a holding area within Agresso QL Students. This holding area can then be used to review the contents of the file. The module will also cater for the attendance return thus saving valuable time manually checking each student’s enrolment status. If Agresso QL Students is used in conjunction with Agresso QL Financials or the fees and charges module, the payment file can be processed and payment is recorded against the necessary account.

Student Loan Company BACS First

The SLC BACS First software is designed to process Student Support Attendance Request (SSAR) information, produced by the SLC, to be imported and matched against the students in Agresso QL Students.

QL was the only working system that allowed the integration of student, finance and personnel management on a single database platform. Additionally, the interoperability with best of breed, third party products is crucial to delivering key management performance indicators”.
